YADY | Adaminaby | Quite a walk into town down hill, across a narrow high traffic-volume bridge, and then a slog backup hill. A bakery and a cafe is usually open to cater to the high volume of tourism traffic. The new Adaminaby Snowy Scheme Museum is an attraction to be seen. https://visitadaminaby.au/What-to-Do-in-the-Adaminaby-and-Lake-Eucumbene-Area.php |
YBKE | Bourke | I have conducted and Angel Flight from here. Bourke is split in two by the Darling River with a very small North Burke with the airport, pub and caravan park (where I stayed in a cabin), and the town further to the South - but I have not walked it. https://www.visitnsw.com/destinations/outback-nsw/bourke-area |
YCTM | Cootamundra | No landing fees. Car speed testing occasionally on weekends - check NOTAMs. https://www.visitnsw.com/destinations/country-nsw/riverina/cootamundra/events |
YCWR | Cowra | FlyOz flight training. No landing fees. https://www.visitcowra.com.au/whats-on-in-cowra-events-calendar/#/grid |
AU-2052 Lockhart airstrip | NSW | a nice well-maintained grass airstrip with a walk close to town via the golf-course. No landing fees. https://www.visitnsw.com/destinations/country-nsw/riverina/narrandera/events |
YHAY | Hay | It's a bit of a walk to the local truck stop where the food is great with very large servings. It was a weather diversion when I flew in so I did not walk twice as far to the town - but will one day. https://www.visitnsw.com/destinations/country-nsw/riverina/hay?gad_campaignid=6740918072&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD-GdRD-qGCNDid9irvVTPb9EVXNX&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI0Pb20LCijQMVDRB7Bx3C7S2MEAAYASAAEgJvZfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds |
YHLS | Hilston NSW | It is not very far from the airport to town. If you visit on a weekend you might be lucky as I was to by Pizza from a travelling stone-fired Pizza vendor. They make a large trade on Sundays when there are no other meals at the pub. I think it's a once a month travelling venture that originates from Wagga Wagga. https://www.visitnsw.com/destinations/country-nsw/riverina/hillston/activities |
YNAR | Narranderah | No landing fees. https://tourism.narrandera.nsw.gov.au/events |
YNYN | Nygan | for those who are still fit to walk, it is not too far to walk to town and you will be rewarded with the sight of an Iroquoi helicopter down the main street. https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Attractions-g529011-Activities-Nyngan_New_South_Wales |
YNRM | Narromine | Liz and I walked into town once, and we caught a taxi on the way back because it was hot. It is not far to town. If you arrive during gliding season you will be able to buy dinner from the Narromine Gliding Club. You might also be able to prevail on the Aero Club Restaurant on a Friday night https://www.facebook.com/narromineaeroclub https://www.visitnsw.com/destinations/country-nsw/dubbo-area/narromine |
YPOK | Porpunkah | https://www.ypok.org.au/land-at-ypok quite a way from town. I have also walked to Bright. https://humanitix.com/au/events/australia/porepunkah |
YSWG | Wagga Wagga | Recent council changes for FY2025-2026 removal of resident-aircraft restriction from Annual Landing Permits https://visitwagga.com/calendar |
YTEM | Temora | R 05/23 has to be one of the longest runways in regional NSW, with PAL and taxiway to the hardstand. Skyfuel is currently very attractive with a price of $2.645 per litre May-2025. https://temora.com.au/events |
YTMU | Tumut | undergoing refurbishment, with new taxi-way and runway extensions. No landing fees. https://www.visitnsw.com/destinations/snowy-mountains/tumut-area/events |

YCRG | Corryong | A brisk walk slightly up hill to the main street of a quaint Victorian town - watch out crossing the road. Corryong Snowy River Bush Festival April, and the Corryong Cup annual hang gliding from Mt Elliot January. No landing fees. http://www.murrayriver.com.au/corryong/events/ |
YILA | Milawa Vineyard Airport | short grass strip, often wet on the southern end. Call ahead to check conditions. M20J can operate in and out of this airstrip. https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Attractions-g552212-Activities-Milawa_Victoria.html |
YIIT | Mitta Mitta International Airport | It is quite a walk to the village along the Omeo highway https://humanitix.com/au/events/australia/mitta-mitta |
YMBT | Mt Beauty | A wonderful town to visit with a short walk around the holding pond. Note this is a one-way runway due to terrain clearance. You IFR guys need to circle down within a confined valley and all aircraft to look out for glider activity, winch launching and ridge soaring. Hang-gliders also occasionally operate from some areas. https://www.visitmountbeauty.com.au/event-search/ |
YTDN | Tooradin | Looks like the restaurant may be open again https://www.yelp.com/biz/wings-and-fins-no-title https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Attractions-g3506260-Activities-Tooradin_Greater_Melbourne_Victoria.html |

YTGM | Thargamindah | a short walk into town via a well lit walkway for those NVF, PFIR, CIR pilots. The airport is not far from town and needs your custom; how about fly there for a day trip or overnight? food was good at the road-house on Sunday as everything else was close. Again this was a weather diversion and I eventually made it back to Canberra later that night. https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Attractions-g1915706-Activities-Thargomindah_Queensland.html |
