Crookwell aerodrome

Crookwell aerodrome was reserved for public use as an aerodrome in perpetuity. I have been informed that the deeds of perpetuity and any record of same have gone missing from council chambers, namely the historical society records and the alleged deed are stated as being unavailable. No assurance has been provided that the records have been re-found.

Since the inception the airport governance has been changed to Upper Lachlan Shire council, when Crookwell council was disbanded by a merger, all titles and document files migrated across in due course.

There is another historical account, a book that I have seen written by a Mr Cummings, that states that the airport land was acquired from the Jockey Club for airport use in perpetuity. Which in English Common Law language means for ever.

Recently, however, it has been leased to a single entity, apparently to the exclusion of all other users (according to the announcements in the Upper Lachlan Shire council notes).

One resident, whose property is part of the airport DA, has been recently well and truely cut-off with the introduction of road-works crossing his former runway, now his taxiway for aircraft to and from his hangar. Yes he has aircraft in a hangar, and alleged property development and alleged leasee has cut off his aircraft access.

Despite numerous contacts, and several by his solicitor, the council has ignored all correspondence on the matter. They even refuse to meet with him.

In my opinion this treatment would not pass the local pub-test.

Thus it is sad to say that Crookwell Aerdrome has been included in the category:GA unfriendly airports.
